Fish Nibbling Pedicures

I stumbled across an interesting article this morning.

It’s a new type of pedicure where the fish do all the work. The fish are called Garra Rufa, or just Doctor Fish for short. You stick your feet into the tank and about 15-20 minutes of nibbling away all the dead skin on your feet, you get a regular pedicure to clean up anything left behind. What a nasty job those little fish have getting to nibble away on foot rot all day long! Folks who get the treatment say it tingles like it does when your foot is falling asleep. I think I’d be too ticklish for the strange treatment, but I’d totally be up for trying it.

Here’s some video of it actually being done.

  1. I am very, very ticklish…dont know if I could stand fish nibbing at my calluses…Oofta! You sure do know how to find the news.

  2. Don’t be scammed! Yvonne’s Fish Spa is not useing real Garra Rufa Fish. She is Using Chin Chin! Chin Chin are a Chinese fish sold as a “Doctor Fish”, but they have no health benefits. Garra Rufa are a Carp (just like koi), have “whiskers”, and are originally from Turkey. Chin Chin have teeth!!! They will eat dead skin as well as healthy skin! Garra Rufa have no teeth and “sucker-mouths” which is why they are also called the “red log sucker fish”. BE CAREFUL when you go to any “fish spa” do your research and don’t get scammed like the 5000 people that went to Yvonne’s Hair and Nail is Alexandria, VA. The wesibe I listed is not mine, but it has useful info. Just type Garra Rufa vs. Chin Chin in any search engine and learn for yourself! http://www.sampuotonspa.com/comparison.php
